To The Lighthouse, by Virginia Woolf

To The Lighthouse

Strange experience for me, this book. In terms of plot, perhaps the most boring book I’ve ever read (120 pages to get through one afternoon and evening?). In terms of style and nuanced psychological insight, though, absolutely compelling and revelatory. Woolf’s sketching of characters’ hopes and fears through negative space is fantastic.
