It takes to the last page of vol. 12—2,500 pages into the story—for the face of the villain to be revealed. Urasawa’s skill makes that almost never felt drawn-out or frustrating. With so many false reveals, though, it’s hard to trust. Vol. 13’s events seems to indicate that it is.
