To me, horror that ends in death isn’t terribly interesting. Sure, death works as punctuation sometimes, but it often removes some of a story’s impact for me. After all, death is the end. Everything is over for the characters. To me, what’s much more frightening and difficult to deal with is survival. Characters having to live with the horror they have experienced or caused is truly disturbing. Which got me thinking: What would life be like for a family who experienced something like the events in Last House on the Left weeks and months and years after that horror?
