A collection of crime-novelist Connelly’s newspaper writing from when he was a crime reporter. A few long features are engrossing, but many others disappoint ? perhaps newspaper writing should be time-sensitive or isn’t meant for posterity? The best section is Connelly’s lively, engaging memoir-style introduction. I’d love to read a book of that.
