52/52: Hell to Pay, by George Pelecanos

I think I love everything about Pelecanos’ Derek Strange novels except the endings. Pelecanos’ characters are so deep, his settings so vivid, his interpersonal dramas so gripping, the crescendos of violence, signaling the end of the story, are often a let down. I’d rather stay longer with the people, in the world.
