The second omnibus collection of early BPRD stories really gains speed with the introduction of The Black Flame. The War on Frogs standalones are fine, but the Black Flame stories—and the rampage of Katha-hem—are spellbinding. Particularly chilling is the silence of Roger’s encounter with The Black Flame at the factory.
