52/52: The Story of a Disappearance and an Appearance, by M.R. James

Categorized in: ,

I love M.R. James’ ghost stories for how far ahead of their time they were, for their creepiness, for their foundational importance to modern horror. But James’ stories can sometimes also be unclear in their denouements, thus muting their impact. That’s the case here, but even muted James is a worthy read.
