52/52: The Small People, by Thomas Ligotti

Categorized in: ,

Ligotti’s introduction—written for this appealing, one-story chapbook with a screen-printed dust jacket—offers a good encapsulation of his approach versus other horror writers. His stories aren’t the dawning of a nightmare; in them, the nightmare has long been underway. It can be heavy going sometimes, but here in particular, it’s ensorcelling.
