52/52: Devil House, by John Darnielle

Categorized in: ,

A nuanced, twisting, multi-viewpoint novel that meditates on the ethics and impact of true-crime journalism. If true-crime has ever struck you as just a bit … suspect … you’ll find a fellow-traveler here. For me, the most compelling and touching section was the early ‘70s California idyll of a pre-crime-commission school teacher.
