52/52: In The Woods, by Tana French

One hell of an accomplished first novel, with all of the hallmarks of characterization, plot, and theme that French explored in numerous later novels, all right out of the gate. One of my favorite aspects of French’s work is her subtle nods towards folklore and folk horror, which are pleasingly present here.
